Foreigners invest $ 678Mn in debt instruments

Foreigners have continued to step up investment in Pakistan’s debt instruments, mostly in short-term T-bills, and have partly helped strengthen the country’s foreign exchange reserves to over $ 8Bn at the beginning of Nov’19. SBP reported that they have invested a net $ 678Mn in debt instruments in FY20 till date. The return of stability to the PKR-USD parity coupled with high rates of return on debt instruments encouraged foreigners to resume investment in Pakistan. Foreigners are expected to invest a net $ 2Bn in T-bills in FY20.
