Fearing backlash from taxpayers, the govt. has withdrawn mandatory requirement of filing taxpayers’ profile with the return. Under Section 114 A of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001, the deadline for online submission or updating of taxpayers’ profiles was 31st Dec’20. However, it was extended until 30th Jun’21. Through the Finance Bill, it has been proposed to omit Section 114A and withdraw requirement of filing of taxpayer’s profile.
