Commitments to IMF: Gas tariff to be revised in second half of current calendar year

Pakistan has made a commitment with the IMF under structural benchmark conditions for increasing the power tariff by over PKR 5 per kWh till Jun’21 while revising the gas tariff in the second half of the current calendar year. Under an ambitious fiscal adjustment plan, Pakistan has also agreed with the IMF for making adjustments of around 3% of GDP ranging up to PKR 1,500Bn through FBR’s taxation measures, hiking electricity tariff and jacking up collection of Petroleum Development Levy up to PKR 607Bn in the upcoming budget for FY22.
