Pakistan grouped in top 5 PPI countries

Pakistan has been grouped in top five highest Private Participation Investment (PPI) countries by receiving $ 5.9Bn across four project during the year 2017, says the World Bank (WB) Group. The WB report “Private Participation in Infrastructure (PPI) Annual Report 2017” stated that 52 countries received PPI investments in 2017, which was a significant increase over the 2016 level of 37 countries, and the past five-year average of 41 countries. China received $ 17.5Bn across 73 projects, Indonesia received $ 15.4Bn across 11 projects, Mexico received $ 8.6Bn across 20 projects, Brazil received $ 7.3Bn across 24 projects and Pakistan received $ 5.9Bn across four projects. The 5 countries attracted a cumulative $ 54.5Bn, which was 58% of global investment in 2017. The increase over 2016 levels can be attributable to a few mega projects in China and Indonesia as well as a recovery in South Asia, led by Pakistan.
