Sindh demands representation on utilities’ boards

The Sindh govt. is looking for a representation on the board of directors of utility firms, SSGC and K-Electric, in wake of the acute electricity crisis in Karachi, that is keeping millions in dark for long hours, CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah said at the inauguration of the 15th My Karachi Exhibition. Shah said the provincial govt. did not want shares or the profit thereof, but with representation on these utilities, they could protect the city from unjust suffering. Earlier, Businessmen Group (BMG) Chairman Siraj Kassim Teli and Vice Chairman Zubair Motiwala apprised the CM minister of the issues faced by the industry, and on top of the list was the electricity shortage, and by extension, water shortage. Teli expressed dismay that the federal as well as provincial govts were marginalizing the industrialists instead of supporting and facilitating them. KCCI President Mufassar Ata Malik said the KCCI has been organizing My Karachi since 2004, which had now become the most popular business event of the country.
